Annie Hall!

So this past week has been our 3rd week rehearsing the Government Inspector and it has been going really well. We did our first full run on Friday and it went surprisingly well. I just can't wait for this next week to be running the play over and over, it's such a laugh and the costumes I've got now are absolutely ridiculous!

Its funny I've always been such a nighthawk, I love staying up late just watching a film or reading or surfing the internet, but lately I've been finding it really unnecessary and boring to stay up late. Also I'm starting to love waking up early and having the entire morning just for myself... I'm getting OLD! So this week I tried going to bed at 22:30 or around that time and it was heaven. I'm thinking of doing an experiment for a whole week of getting at least 8 hours of sleep every night and see how I feel and blog about it. I'm thinking it would probably be worth investigating!

But in the last few weeks I've seen 2 films that I've been absolutely blown away by: Shame and Annie Hall... I knooow I should have seen Annie Hall like a trillion years ago but its just one of those films that I've always meant to watch and then never given myself the time to do it.

Shame is quite simply a work of art. I'm really loving how such beautifully crafted and detailed films are becoming more and more mainstream these days such as Shame, Drive and many more. What struck me most when watching Shame was how subtle and detailed the acting was. It was so physical and the story was being told by the body language of the actors much more than by the words they were speaking. It really stuck me. Then the cinematography of the film was.simply.amazing. Every single frame could have been a photograph on display at a gallery. So carefully lighted that it was almost like the colours of the film became characters of their own... this sounds very wanky but I was really taken aback by it. I'm loving this progression, absolutely loving it, these are the kinds of films I'd love to direct or perform in some day.

Annie Hall however, what a masterpiece. I found myself strangely attracted to Woody Allen.... WHAT?! He's this tiny, whiny, jewish guy but I swear there's something really quite sexy about him. It doesn't make any sense, but I'm sure some girls that will read this will get what I mean. Its probably got something to do with how passionate he is, or something... Ha! While I was watching the film I found myself looking at Annie's clothes more and more... She looks so cool! And the funny thing is, that most of her outfits are something you'd find in Topshop now, I was half tempted to go on an internet shopping spree to copy her look!

Right I've got lots to say but I don't want to make this blog too long, since the last one took about 4 hours to read over again (oops), so I'll leave it at that. I'll post a few blogs this week, I've got a lot on my mind these days and some of it would make quite interesting entries I'm thinking.

Lots of honeycoated sugarpuffs and rainbow-eyed unicorns to you!
Siddy
