So I've decided to blog in English. Mostly because I have quite a few friends all over the world and they do not understand Icelandic (shocker really, I though most people would speak it) so I've decided to write in the Queens English!
I've been longing to travel for a while now, however when you're a student in London it's not like you're rolling in money. I thought I'd write out a list of my 10 favourite places I've been to in the world, just to dream a little.
10. Brussels, Belgium
I've only been to Brussels once and I was only there for a day, but I completely loved it! There were two reasons why I loved it: I had the most amazing waffle there and then we went to this amazing bar called Delirium Cafe where they have over 2000 different kinds of beer. You can sit there all day and get pissed on hundreds of different kinds of beer. I was lucky enough to have my Belgian friend with me who chose a beer for me called Kasteel Red and since then I've been dreaming of having another one of those ice cold bad boys, I've tried finding it in London with no luck. I'll definitely be making a trip to Brussels soon for some waffles, fries and beer!
9. Copenhagen, Denmark.
Last time I was in Copenhagen was in 2007 when I went to a Rolling Stones concert with my parents. However I'm going there in February this year for only a day but hopefully I'll be able to see some of my favourite sites there: Stroget (the line), Tivoli and Nyhavn!
Stroget is the worlds longest pedestrian street with tons of very Scandinavian shops. It's lovely to walk the street and look in the windows with coffee and a danish (see what I did there).

Tivoli is a fun fair park in the centre of Copenhagen with fair rides and loads of Cafés and restaurants. For me Tivoli is almost like the essence of Copenhagen, even though it's quite touristy and cheesy.
Nyhavn means New Harbour in Danish and is a lovely place to spend an afternoon, particularly in the sun. There are restaurants and cafés next to the water and the houses are all so colourful and beautiful.
8. San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina.

I spent a year in as an exchange student in Argentina when I was 18 and San Miguel was the city I lived in. To me its almost like a second home and I'm dying to go back and visit. Tucumán is the capital of the Province of Tucumán and is home to about 800 thousand people in the greater metropolitan area. I'd love to walk down the 25 de Mayo street and have a Bluebell Ice cream in the Independence plaza while looking at the Government house. Then go out for some Empanadas and Asado (Argentinian barbeque) with a bottle Quilmes in the evening. Ahh I miss it!
7.Island of Crete, Greece.
I went with my mum and my sisters to Crete in 2004 and I completely fell in love with it. Even though the Greek islands are very commercial and touristy, they still keep some of their authenticity and beauty.
What I loved most was just the perfect weather and beautiful clear blue sea. I'd love to go back to Greece and explore more of it.
6. Þingvellir, Iceland.
Obviously I'm going to wack out a few places in Iceland since it is my home country, but also because they are beautiful and so serene and filled with history. Þingvellir is the location of the worlds first Parliament dated back to 930 A.D. Its also the place where you can see the two tectonic plates of Eurasia and North America meet above water. I love just walking through the valley there, along the river and the lake, its almost like you can feel the history the place has.
5.Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Buenos Aires is just one of those cities that if you don't fall in love with it... there's something wrong with you... or you got mugged.
I've been to Bs.As a few times and it is just buzzing with rhythm and life. Home of the Tango of course, the city feels like a mix of New York, Paris and Italy. I love walking past the Casa Rosada which is the presidential palace of Argentina (it's Pink!), going for a pizza on the Avenida Corrientes. Going shopping and barhopping in Palermo Soho and seeing a tango show in La Boca! Buenos Aires will probably always be one of my favourite cities.
4.London, England
I've been living in London now for a year and a half and I always find something new and amazing about it. One of my favourite restaurants in London is La Taqueria in Notting Hill which is an authentic Mexican restaurant where you can get the most amazing Margaritas. I love to go to Greenwich and walk along the Thames especially on the Southbank from London Bridge to Waterloo. Theatre in London is also the best in the world and my two favourites are the National Theatre and the Royal Court. There are some amazing cinemas in London such as the BFI and Screen on the Green in Islington. Also when I feel homesick I like to go to the Nordic Bakery in Soho, which is a Scandinavian coffee shop.
3.Reykjavik, Iceland
Reykjavik being the city I grew up in will always be one of my favourite places in the world. However Reykjavik in the summer is just amazing. With 24 hour sunlight and fresh mild weather make me want to spend every summer in Iceland. There are tons of cool indie concerts you can go see, the bars and clubs are open late, you can sit by Austurvöllur and have a beer while sunbathing and lounge in the thermal pools if you have a day off. I love running in the summer and also going on hikes up mt.Esja the "mountain of Reykjavik" when the weather is good...
2.New York, USA.
I went to New York for the first time with my mum in 2010, I'd been a huuuuge Sex and the City fan for a really long time so I already felt like I knew the city when I got there. I love New York, the pace of it, the vibe, the food, the people, the theatre... everything! One of my long term goals is to move there and live in New York for a couple of years, and I'll make it happen. We stayed up on the Upper West Side but later when I went again I stayed on the Upper East Side and its amazing how different they are, I was slightly more drawn to the Upper West Side for some reason. I love going on runs through central park. Having a coffee on the Lower East Side, having a pizza in either Little Italy or in Brooklyn and going to a Broadway show... I know I've got so much to discover about New York and I can't wait to be able to!
1. Borgarfjörður Eystri, Iceland
Icelandic countryside in the summer (well all of Iceland is countryside really) is beautiful. I can't imagine a better place to spend my summers. We all go camping multiple times over the summer, we have massive gatherings and festivals in the midnight sun. However my favourite is Bræðslan (The Burner) in Borgarfjörður Eystri in the East of Iceland. Its a very tiny fjord that is about 9 hour drive from Reykjavik which has a music festival in July. Artists like Belle and Sebastian, Damien Rice and Emiliana Torrini have all played there even though the festival is only attended by about 2000 people. The whole fjord transforms into a camp site with people jumping into the cold sea and walking up to the nearest tent to have a drink and singalong with someones guitar. It is in the essence everything I love about Icelandic summers in one weekend.
Lots of love
