I haven't blogged in ages! What a disgrace! I was going to be so good and just blog all the time.
Well since last we spoke the show finished, and it was very much a success. I immediately felt withdrawal symptoms afterwards, I enjoyed that play so immensely that I just didn't want it to end. But all good things must come to an end I suppose.
Then I had reading week which was gorgeous. Got my hair done, did some cleaning and then I went to Sweden and Denmark for a few days... Soooo nice! It always amazes me to go into a supermarket in Scandinavia... the amount of variety that they have and they have such healthy foods and really fresh produce and it just saddens me to think that supermarkets in England could easily do the same if there wasn't such a massive culture of fast food and ready meals here, it really is a shame. Sweden also has this very clever thing, they have vending machines for recycling in the supermarkets so you can bring all your bottles etc and dispose of it there and you get money back. We have a similar system in Iceland and it really does make you recycle more! Over christmas I recycled all our bottles at home and got paid 55 quid back!!! Thats a lot, I wonder why England and the UK doesn't do the same thing, it would definitely make people care about recycling!
However now we've started our last skills block, or where we have regular classes on different subjects such as: acting, stage combat, poetry, voice, sight reading, movement, clown etc. It feels quite weird to think that I've finished half of my training already, time goes by just scarily fast so that before I know I'll be graduating.
Our main focus this term is Elizabethan/Jacobean texts... i.e Shakespeare!! I've never been a huge fan of Shakespeare, I always found him to be quite a tedious read and some productions I've seen of his plays were so horrendous that I just couldn't make myself to read any of those plays. But my interest has definitely been sparked! His plays are so genius and the language is so powerful that any actor would (and should ha!) relish in the opportunity to play a Shakespeare character.
It is a foreign world to me though so I feel like I need to read a lot about it to fully understand everything, so I'm at home every night these days doing little else than reading, which is quite fun actually, its just something that I find quite hard to make myself sit down and do even though as soon as I start I love it.
Also I've started a 9 week half marathon training program. I finished the week and I'm going to try my very best to stick to it. I'll be running on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday so I'm probably doing to be doing some weights on tuesday and thursday and then maybe on Sundays if I really feel like it I might go and swim a bit... I'm really interested in seeing what running will do to my body, how it will change, whether I'll lose some muscle or get leaner or what ever so I will be blogging on my running journey.
That's all I can think of for now of interesting things to write. Till later!
Siddy
